Royalweeks has been a symbol of our clubs years long tradition and heritage ; hopes and aspirations; dreams and realities.
First Bulletin
Our first Bulletin was published in august, 1949 covering the detailed report of the Inauguration of this club on 25 July 1949. It was a one Sheet typed Matter. Neatly typed on royal blue coloured manifoild letter-head, with the name of all office bearers, the issue was titled “MEMBERS’ BULLETIN”
The first change was brought out on 18 December 1952 for the first time issue No.182 came out in “Cyclostyled” from! Late V. Kesavan was the president and Late M.R.K. Moorthy was the Secretary. It is noted that there were no editors in those days, but the Secretary was put in charge of publishing the Bulletins.
An Editor Born
The next major change was in 1969 when Bala Hariharan was nominated editor. Thus he becomes the FIRST EDITOR! Rtn. K. Sugunendran was the last Secretary ( 68-69) to edit the Bulletin in the capacity of a Secretary.
With a printed Head
The next change was 1971-72 when Dr.M.S. Ramachandran was the editor. A printed Head was appeared in December 1971. The Bulletins were prompt and kept its style.
Royalweeks is born
Perhaps the most significant change in the annals of our Bulletin was brought out in 1979 when our vibrant Tomy Eapan was nominated Editor . The Bulletin was entitled : “ ROYALWEEKS” . The word stands for Rotary Club of Alleppey, Weekly Bulletins”. In its very first year ‘Royalweeks’ was adjudged the Best in India, and a special award was given to its Editor. Awards and recognitions, one after another came in search of her. In tune with the imaginations of the Editors, her style and shape varied. No wonder she is now a prestigious publication of our club a much envied talk of the Rotary Circle. As on 20th Jan 2016 we have published 3463 issues and continuing the tradition established by our predecessors.
